story

Since a kid, I’ve loved exploring and adventuring through our beautiful earth. Her mountains, rivers, canyons, forests, skies and seas bring me the most joy and wonder. I love to listen to the wind blow the trees leaves, the sound of sea waves lapping the shore, and the sound of water flowing over rocks. When I was young, my family and I lived in the mountains of central Mexico in a small town with cobblestone streets, colorful houses, and an endlessly open blue sky above. San Miguel de Allende and the artists which lived there inspired and me to create freely and be curious about everything. While there, one of my favorite things to do was to take road trips to the surrounding canyons. We’d explore the dry rocky-mountains covered with mesquite trees and buzzing with rattlesnakes. On these adventures, I was always excitedly searching for crystals and geodes—- these huge round beige rocks that looked plain and somewhat boring (though even a plain rock could never actually bore me…). When I’d find a geode, I’d hold it in my hands and lift it high into the air, over my head, and then fast, thrust it downward onto a bigger rock - bang. The round light beige rock would crack open as the dry bright sun shone over its inside making it glisten. White, purple, yellow crystals all glistening and washed in sunshine.

Twenty or so years later, I still love collecting rocks. I still love exploring and adventuring everything that is alive and breathing in this world. The wonder we are surrounded by feels infinite and my curiosity is, too. And, my childhood love of making with my hands is still how I love to make through and with the time we are gifted.

With my hands I: hold pencil to paper and write, make with clay, weave yarns, sew threads, paper mache, cook food, lay palms to tree bark, plant seeds & tend to soils. With my hands I build and imagine worlds, sometimes alone, often with others.

I love my hands & am grateful to them for all of the wonder they open me to and through. And, more recently, my hands have shown me another wondrous gift -- one that surprised me and has brought me immense joy -- that of energy healing and reiki.

At the start of discovering this gift, I began to practice energy healing on animals - mostly horses, cats, and dogs. After some time I began to practice energy healing on close friends. Formally, I knew very little about what I was doing but I let my intuition guide the process and I discovered that we already know so much about how to heal ourselves and each other, without having to be told how. What my friends and I experienced in those beginning practices brought us so much excitement and awe for everything was so new to us. These initial sparks fluttered into flames and I felt deep within me a calling to continue exploring the vast worlds of energy and energy healing.

In July 2023 I studied with reiki master Brett Bevell at the Omega Institute in Reinbeck, New York, and was attuned to levels one and two reiki in The Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage.

Soon after, I felt a vibrant and clear calling to open a small practice of my own in Athens, Greece, where I make my home.

In 2024 I studied, again with Brett Bevell, in a six month reiki course where I was attuned with the master level reiki energy in the Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage.

Part of my everyday spiritual practice is to deepen my understanding of reiki and energy healing as a whole. It’s something I will be doing for the rest of this life. That I know for sure.

For me, what motivates this practice is a fierce love and gratitude for people and the natural world as a whole. I am also motivated by a fierce desire, wish, hope, and belief that our earth (which we are part of) must be supported, protected, and healed to stay healthy. As individuals, we are vital and essential systems that make-up the larger earth system as a whole, and the more support, protection, and healing we experience, the healthier each of us is, the more our earth (our home!) is, too.

I am lucky and grateful to get to practice the art of energy and to be able to share it with you. It’s beautiful and makes me happy.

To me, what’s even more beautiful and magical is that this gift of energy healing and reiki is open to all of us. Anyone can learn the art of reiki regardless of whether you intend to become a reiki practitioner. If you're interested in practicing yourself, you can! I am in the process of making a resource page with more information and will post it to this site as soon as I am done.

If you have any questions or want to share anything at all with me, I am here and will love to hear from you and listen / answer.

love,

walker
